Dun na Rí forest park (pictured left), just a 15 minute drive from Lough Sillan House is one of many gorgeous parks, lakes and woodlands in Cavan. Legend has it that Cú Chulainn, the Gaelic warrior, rested here while fighting the armies of Queen Maeve of Connaught. The Normans were here also and in later years the glen echoed to the sounds of Cromwell's armies. Spanning 565 acres along the banks of the river Cabra, the park, famous for its wishing well, wildlife, birds and a wide variety of shrubs and rhododendrons is perfect for dogs and human alike. Contact us to access the park like a local. You will find a copy of the Cavan Trails Guide in your cottage. Please feel free to use it throughout your stay but please leave it behind when you check out for other guests to enjoy these amazing trails.
