Wifi

Wifi will automatically connect when you enter the cottage, no password required.

Tea & Treats

Your cottage is equipped with a Nespresso Coffee machine and a kettle. Barrys tea, herbal teas and Nespresso coffee pods are provided in your cottage. You will find more teabags in the wall cupboard in the outdoor kitchen. A complimentary bottle of prosecco is included with your booking please let us know if you would prefer our non-alcoholic alternative Nosecco. You will also find some sweets and treats and granola for breakfast – there are no hidden charges.

Fridge

The fridge in your cottage contains complimentary milk, freshly squeezed orange juice, yogurts, butter and jam for the complimentary brown bread. If you wish to store larger food items please contact us we will be happy to store them in the fridge at Lough Sillan House. For ice please contact us.

Wood burning stove

Kindling, logs, fire logs, firelighters and matches are provide. The Stanley stove emits incredible heat, it is important to keep the fire small as it won’t work if you pack it up with wood. Please turn on the extractor fan when you light the fire - the switch is on the wall to the bathroom, next to the bathroom light switch.

There is also an infrared wall heater in your room please contact us if you would like us to turn this on or off, or change the temperature.

Clothes and condensation

To prevent condensation in your cottage please turn the extractor fan on when you use the shower and please hang wet gear on the hooks in the outdoor kitchen.

You will find clothes storage under the bed.

Shower
There is a constant supply of hot water for your shower. Soap, bodywash, shampoo and conditioner are provided. If you forget your toothbrush please contact us. There is a basket in your shower room with other items you may have forgotten. This is where you will find the hairdryer and a floor mat – please use the floor mat when you shower.

The Spa

Robes are provided in your room to wear down to the spa over your swim suit.
Towels are provided in the spa area so you don’t need to bring any down with you.
Please leave used towels in the relaxation room.
The outdoor shower is hot so please shower before using the spa facilities
Do not apply soap or any lotions or creams before using the hot tub.
FAKE TAN IS NOT PERMITTED PLEASE REMOVE THOOROUGHLY BEFORE USING THE HOT TUB
The bean bags are suitable for indoor/outdoor use.
Citronella candles are provided to help keep the bugs away.
To keep the hot tub ‘hot’ we recommend replacing the lid while you go swimming or use the sauna and relaxation room.
When using essential oils in the sauna, first fill the silver bowl with water then add just one or two drops of your preferred oil.
The lake is stony - please bring flip flops or swim shoes - we have some spares if you forget.
The password for the Bluetooth on the hot tub is 2288

Kayaks
Maximum weight 130kg
Life jackets are compulsory
Be sensible – the current in the lake is wind-driven – do not take the kayaks out when there are white waves on the lake.
Start against the current and return with the wind and the current on your back.
Do not use the kayaks when alcohol has been consumed
Lough Sillan is a public lake you enter it at your own risk.

Wild Swimming
The floor of the lake is stony so please wear swim shoes or flip flops before entering.
Lough Sillan is perfect for wild swimming but please be sensible – do not enter the lake after consuming alcohol.

Fishing
Lough Sillan is has a massive stock of fish.
Fishing is free, no license is needed, however the lake operates a catch and release policy.

Species: Hybrids, roach, bream, tench, perch and pike.
Best baits: Red maggots, casters, corn and worms. Groundbait is essential. Popular methods: Feeder fishing, straight bomb with groundbait, pole or waggler.
